About Caliente Guitar Trio:
 Adelaide-based Caliente Guitar Trio comprises guitarists Mike Bevan, Al Valodze and Dylan Woolcock. They are known for their intricate arrangements of Brazilian guitar music and choro (a precursor to samba), as well as textured improvisations and original tunes performed on six and seven-string guitars, mandolin and cavaquinho (a Brazilian steel-string member of the ukelele family).
Caliente was formed in 2000 through the shared passion of Valodze and Bevan for Latin American music, and the Brazilian repertoire in particular. Their debut CD ‘Bebe’ was released in 2004, consolidating a growing reputation for distinguished acoustic performances. The more recent addition of Woolcock, on guitar and mandolin, has enabled a wider exploration of musical styles and sounds, creating a brilliant ‘Ménage a Guitare’, the title of their latest CD.
Imbued with a sublime and seductive mixture of joy, melancholy and passion, the trio’s current repertoire combines lyrical melodies with fiery solos, and intricate lines with rhythmic subtlety, to create a distinctive and captivating sound that is both modern and nostalgic at the same time.
